NOTES on a VIOLIN is a short documentary film produced, directed, and edited by Avital Oehler. The film follows a violin-obsessed teacher, Darren Briggs (R.I.P., dear friend), who uses the streets of Los Angeles to find new students so that he can spread the "gospel" of classical music.

I first met Darren Briggs on a busy street corner, where unbelievably, amid the cacophony of traffic, people, and street noise, he and his student were practicing the violin. Being immediately drawn to Darren and his philosophy of teaching, I created a series of stills and a short documentary film.
